Yes, it is acceptable but it has some requirements in Egypt. 1. The couple must attend in person and have their valid passports with them. 2. Birth certificate of each spouse 3. 5 photographs of each spouse 4. Foreign marriage certificates can be legalized given that the original marriage certificate is provided and legalized by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. 5. In case of the wife having a previous marriage, a declaration of divorce, legalized by the competent authorities should be provided. 6. If the wife is less than 21 years of age, her legal guardian must attend and recognize consent to marriage. 7. In the case of a non-Egyptian wife, a "non-impediment certificate" issued by the authorities in her homeland must be provided. 8. Two witnesses must attend having their valid passports with them. In this case we have to some conditions: 1- The bride and the bridegroom are Muslims, it is allowed. 2- The bridegroom is Muslim and the bride are not, it is allowed in case of she beleives in God and she is Christian or Jew only. 3- If the bridegroom is not Muslim, he will not be allowed to marry a Muslim woaman. Here, the nationality is not the important thing as there are more than 13 thousands of Egyptin men whose married Israili women
First of all, I would like to thank you for your answers. It sounds like it is more important for Egyptians to have a spouse who is Muslim than to have a spouse who has the same nationality. Is this correct? If that's the case, do Egyptian people think the religious gap is more serious than cultural gap between spouses from different countries?
